UUSM News Team Seeks Writers and Editors

Join hte UUSM News Team

Are you interested in making things happen here? Writers and editors are needed now.

Our creative and dedicated UUSM News Team keeps members and new folks in touch with the wide range of what’s happening at 18th and Arizona (and on Zoom). We all know that many hands make light work. This team needs more hands. Help ensure that news of our community and its programs can reach people promptly, accurately, and with cool photos or images.

Several years ago, after nine decades of regularly mailing our Newsletter at the Post Office, we changed to preparing an online news magazine. And last summer we enhanced our communications efforts with a beautiful, new website featuring the best elements of our previous sites plus more. Our community also benefits from the Announcements sent to our email Inboxes each Thursday, but the UUSM News is our primary source of information.

Each UUSM News article is called a “post.”
Each post needs at least one writer, one editor,
and one high-resolution, landscape image at the top.
It’s that simple.

What interests you? You might want to specialize in one or two areas, such as youth programs, social justice, anti-racism anti-oppression initiatives, stewardship, worship, the minister’s column, the Board of Directors, membership growth, our Generous Congregation program, Dining for Dollars, art, music, facilities, or…? Please join us in preparing messages that reach out and welcome in people looking for a congregational home with space for worship experiences, justice work, caring for each other and our planet, personal growth, and more.

Team members can help you learn to navigate the popular WordPress platform, which is where the UUSM News Magazine is prepared – or maybe you’re someone who can help others gain proficiency in it! To get started, just email news@uusm.org or talk with one of us. Thanks.
