On Saturday, October 8th, one of the area’s largest and most well-funded anti-abortion events — Unite for Life — will take place at the Santa Monica Pier. In response, our local progressive interfaith community and other organizations are coming together to hold a counter-rally for human rights and reproductive freedom.
The event will be titled Reproductive Justice is Life and is an urgent opportunity to show the community that we stand for reproductive justice and human rights amid the ongoing attacks on bodily autonomy that have increased since the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade.
Join us beginning at 4:00 pm at Palisades Park, just North of Colorado Blvd (public parking on Colorado). Wear pink or bright colors if you can. There will be singing for those who wish to join in! More details about speakers and participating groups to be announced. The event has gotten some local press coverage from the Santa Monica Daily Press.
This will be a peaceful neighborhood counter-protest, and we will not engage or confront the anti-abortion advocates.
