UUSM’s own Rev. Nuri-Robins was honored as a 2025 Black Woman Trailblazer and leader at the Gala put on by the California Black Women’s Collective Empowerment Institute at the Luxe Hotel in Los Angeles on June 13. She was a Hall of Fame Awardee. Rev. Kikanza attended the event with her daughter, Meredith, who is a psychologist at UC Santa Barbara.
UUSM members Cathie Gentile and I watched as she accepted her award. She was one of the nominees from Southern California. Awards were given to leaders from different areas of California, as well.
We sat with other friends of Rev. Kikanza’s and enjoyed live music and a delicious meal topped off with a chocolate mousse torte.
We know and love Rev. Kikanza because she brings her truths to us and shares her own lived experience. We appreciate her deep insights and wonder at her understanding of life and our human foibles.
We were glad to see Rev. Kikanza recognized for her strength, resilience, and brilliance, in her life and in her work.
