Next discussion of UUA Common Read, “Mistakes and Miracles,” coming on July 8

The next discussion group for the UUA Common Read – Mistakes and Miracles: Congregations on the Road to Multiculturalism – will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. to noon in Forbes Hall. The conversation about how other UU congregations have changed in regard to diversity and inclusion is open to everyone at UUSM. If you have not yet read the book, copies are available at the church.

Our conversations are focused on the reflections and candid insights that the authors, Karen Lin and Nancy Palmer Jones, have gleaned from their interviews with UU ministers, members of the congregations, and committed community activists. Looking into our individual responses to the material, these conversations provide a time and place to share our thoughts. FYI, we’re not discussing the book chapter by chapter.

Please join James Witker and Judith Martin-Straw for the next discussion on July 8 – or stay tuned for the next conversation to be announced. We want everyone to read this book at their own pace, and find a place to discuss it in a way that feels thoughtful.

Questions about the Common Read can find answers at the UUA website, or contact the Contact the Adult RE Committee.
