D4$ Singing Bowls and an Evening of Sound Bath: “Relax, Rest and Reset”

Adrienne with singing bowls

On Saturday June 21st at 7pm, Adrienne Sumpter gathered us in the sanctuary for a peaceful and serene evening of harmonious quiet, where words became silent and the music of the instruments captured us.

We entered the sanctuary and saw what we were about to hear, the singing bowls and the other instruments that Adrienne brought together.  Some pews were moved to make space for the yoga mats and pillows and other comfy things.

A few people sat, but most of us sprawled on the floor as we drifted into a pleasant trance. I can’t remember another time when over a dozen UUs lay on the sanctuary floor like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Adrienne began with the shakers, then the drum, followed by the ocean drum.

All these mellow yet unfamiliar sounds made it easy to slip away.  Which we did, right into the crystal bowls and then the reverie harp, and finally the chimes, which tingled us awake again.

This was a Dining for Dollars event, so naturally, food and refreshments in were offered in Forbes Hall along with lively and friendly conversation.
