September UU the Vote Postcarding Update – North Carolina

UUSM the Vote 2024

You writers and supporters are rockin’ it!!

We are at more than 21,600 cards distributed, thousands more than our original 18,000 goal. We still have September and October in front of us. Let’s push ourselves. Do we know more friends who want to do something?

Your generous donations got us to a great position to request a triple grant from the Spirit Level Fund. And… it was approved!!! Thank you!!! We are well-funded now for materials and stamps. I told the Spirit Level people that we are working hard on getting the most postcards out. And with that extra financial help, we can do it!

Here is some information on where our campaign postcards are going now: Wayne County (mailing lists of addresses are almost complete) and Hertford County, North Carolina. Wayne County is about an hour’s drive from Raleigh. Hertford County is in eastern North Carolina, bordering Virginia on the north. It is about 100 miles inland from storied Kitty Hawk. The NC 1st Congressional District contains Hertford County and the seat is currently held by Don Davis (D).

North Carolina allows “In-Person” early voting. Voters must show an ID when voting in-person and can update their registration at early voting sites. There are 4 early voting sites in Wayne County and 12 in Hertford County. Any North Carolina registered voter can also request, receive, and vote with a mail-in absentee ballot.

Deadlines for voting in North Carolina —

NC in-person early voting dates

As you can see from the October 11 registration deadline, we want our cards to reach people in enough time for them to process the information and ensure they are registered and not removed from the voter rolls. We want to begin mailing our postcards by mid-September. If you want, you can bring them to the UU the Vote table on Sunday and we will stamp and hold them to mail.

Let’s help make it the best turn-out ever in North Carolina! A big turn-out in 2008 made for an exciting competition for their 15 (now 16) electoral votes. They can do it again this year. North Carolina voters are responding to our issues in this campaign. Sentiment seems to be moving toward winning on values on Election Day. That’s the incentive for us to recognize the successes so far, capitalize on them, not let up, find time to do more…and with JOY! How satisfying would that be…to have helped to win North Carolina?

I thank you for all you are doing and will do.

More Voter Encouragement!!! More Voter Encouragement!!!
