The world may be falling apart but UUSM is thriving! We are successfully proceeding through a search for a settled minister. Our search committee worked hard to identify, interview, and evaluate several candidates. They choose a highly qualified candidate, that candidate choose us, and soon we will be introduced to the ministerial candidate. This is exciting! A big thank you to search committee members: Susan Hendricks, Chela Metzger, Beth Rendeiro, Norm Richey, Shanna Shaked, Cassie Winters, and James Witker.
Our stewardship campaign is underway from March 29 to April 12. We ask each member to consider how much they can contribute to support our community. There are a couple of important considerations. One is can you (we) increase what you (we) give? Our expenses increase modestly each year, and we continue to have a modest deficit. So, if you (we) give a little more, then we can move ahead of our expenses. If you (we) give a lot more, we can close our deficit. Two is by responding to the stewardship request, we can plan better. A pledge is a commitment. When you (we) respond to the stewardship request by submitting your (our) pledge, we are better equipped to plan our budget. So please submit your pledge today.
Despite the world falling apart, we at UUSM do not give up hope. We are part of a community built on love, commitment, and service. We work to make our community and the larger world better. We stand up for justice and speak up against injustices. We can do so because we’re working together.
