Message: “Winter Festivals of Light” from Rev. Jeremiah Lal Shahbaz Kalendae

A message from the monthly “Path of Wonder.” The longest night of the year — the Winter Solstice — arrives in a few days and ancient festivals of light will be celebrated in Jewish, Pagan, and Christian traditions. Let us venture into the darkness and learn from the wisdom of the sacred stories of these traditions. Hanukkah and Winter Solstice #Hanukkah #wintersolstice #yule

Note that childcare will not be provided, but kids are most welcome to join in this intergenerational service.

Message: “Our Liberal Religious Values” from Rev. Jeremiah Lal Shahbaz Kalendae

A message from the monthly “Path of Wonder.” The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) is discerning the values we share in our liberal religious tradition. The Article II Study Commission is tasked with considering our shared Principles and Purposes and making recommendations to the General Assembly. The document was last revised in 1987, so this is an important opportunity for us to update or renew our foundational covenental agreements. Join us on Sunday as we explore this important work and the values that bind us together as Unitarian Universalists. #uuvalues #liberalreligiousvalues #religiousvalues

Message: “Mindful Living” from Rev. Jeremiah Lal Shahbaz Kalendae

A message from the monthly “Path of Change.” Jesus admonishes his disciples to “stay awake” throughout the Christian scriptures but he constantly finds them asleep. The Buddhist tradition likewise teaches that the spiritual path is all about waking up. Join us to journey with Jesus and the Buddha this Sunday. We will consider what it means to “wake up” and explore spiritual exercises that might help to keep us conscious. #mindfulness #uumindfulness #spiritualpractices

Message: “Thanksgiving/Thanxgrieving” from Rev. Jeremiah Lal Shahbaz Kalendae

A message from the monthly “Path of Change.” We offer gratitude for the many gifts of our lives, and we grieve the painful legacies of imperialism, colonialism, and white supremacy. Honoring Thanksgiving/Thanxgrieving in our community is an opportunity to practice the “both/and” thinking that transcends the polarization of “either/or” thinking and holds space for the complex realities and many emotions stirred by the holiday season.

Today is the end of Daylight Savings Time. It is the day that we recapture the hour that we lost last spring. What will you do with your hour? How can you use it with intention? How might you prioritize this precious gift of more time?

Message: “Día de Muertos, Encircled by Our Ancestors” from Rev. Jeremiah Lal Shahbaz Kalendae

A message from the monthly “Courage.” We celebrate Allhallowtide and Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in this special multi-generational service. You are invited to bring photographs of your loved ones who have died to be placed on the “Ofrenda” (altar) during the service. Young people are invited to remain in the sanctuary for the entire service. Following our regular worship service, our annual Garden of Eternity dedication service will be held at noon in the Garden.

Message: “Sisters of the Moon” from Rev. Jeremiah Lal Shahbaz Kalendae

A message from the monthly “Courage.” Witches, Wiccans, and Neopagans have found a home in many of our liberal religious congregations. Our 6th Unitarian Universalist Source celebrates these and other Earth-based traditions which “celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.” Come join us as we learn more about these wisdom traditions as the most sacred Sabbat of the Year for many neopagans–Samhain or All Hallows’ Eve–draws near.
