Sunday Worship: Practicing What It Means to Be Human

Unitarian Universalism’s modern commitment to justice and engagement in the public square can be understood through the life’s work of its most influential 20th Century thinker. We’ll consider some stories about James Luther Adams, the legendary minister, professor, and social activist who taught a generation of liberal religious leaders that their faith in humanity must be strong enough to prevent the return of fascism. 

James Witker has been a member of UUSM since 2010, during which time he has been most deeply involved with Faith In Action and Adult Religious Education. He is a student of Unitarian Universalist history and interested in the connection between theologies, ideas, and social justice. He recently served on UUSM’s ministerial search committee and is also currently on the board of the national Unitarian Universalist Humanist Association. Professionally, he works as a documentary film and TV editor and producer.
