Sunday Worship: Encircled by Our Ancestors (Day of the Dead)
October 30, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
We celebrate Allhallowtide and Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in this special multi-generational service. You are invited to bring photographs of your loved ones who have died to be placed on the “Ofrenda” (altar) during the service. Young people are invited to remain in the sanctuary for the entire service. Following our regular worship service, our annual Garden of Eternity dedication service will be held at noon in the Garden. • Rev. Jeremiah Lal Shahbaz Kalendae, preaching • Vilma Ortiz and Alison Kendall, Worship Associates
We suggest that any members of the congregation wishing to remember loved ones during the service bring a framed photo to put on the Ofrenda. It is important to include your name, phone number, and email on the photo so we can return it to you after the service. We hope you can join us in this traditional service, whether in person or online.
At 12 noon, Rev. Jeremiah Kalendae will lead a brief dedication service for those people whose loved ones ordered a memorial brick for them over the past year, which is installed in our Garden of Eternity next to the Sanctuary and Arizona Avenue. This is a lovely, intimate service which gives you a chance to say a few words about those who are being memorialized. You may want to share your framed photo or place it next to the engraved brick with marigolds at the service and take some photos.
Please plan to provide a photo for the Ofrenda, come to the service and provide some information to share about those being remembered at the dedication service.
