Congregational Special Meeting and Vote on Settled Minister Candidate

At 12:30 pm on Sunday, April 26 (after the service in our Sanctuary), there will be a special congregational meeting to vote on our settled minister candidate. This will be the only item on the agenda, and there will be time for discussion after the motion is made (note that this will be the final opportunity for members of the congregation to weigh in on this very important decision). To call the candidate as our minister, the congregation needs to vote at least 90% in favor. (And most ministers prefer a vote of 95%.) The candidate will not be at the meeting, but if the vote is yes, we will bring them back for a reception after the vote.
The Board of Directors hopes all members participate in the democratic process of our congregation. A quorum for all church business meetings consists of not less than 25% of the voting members.
Members can request an ABSENTEE BALLOT by emailing admin@uusm.org. Absentee ballots must be received by Friday, April 24, at noon.
Amendments are adopted if they receive a two-thirds majority of the total votes cast (including absentee ballots).
Non-members are welcome to attend but cannot vote. Childcare will be available.
