Science Nonfiction Book Group “The Catalyst”

Booklovers come together to explore science and history topics in-depth. Meet us in Forbes Hall.
We will discuss The Catalyst: RNA and the Quest to Unlock Life’s Deepest Secrets, by Thomas R. Cech.
Knowing the sequence of the human genome (DNA) has only gone some of the way to understanding how a cell runs. More recently, we have a better picture of the importance of RNA. The author received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1989 for the discovery of the catalytic properties of RNA. Since then his lab, and others have learned a lot more.
All are welcome. Questions? Email us. We continue to meet in-person on the 4th Saturday of each month in Forbes Hall at 10:30 am.
