Science Non-Fiction Book Group

We will meet in Forbes on Saturday,
September 26, 10:30 am to noon, to discuss Breathless: The Scientific
Race to Defeat a Deadly Virus, by David Quammen. It might have seemed
like the Covid-19 vaccine was developed overnight, but researchers had
been developing the capacity for mRNA vaccines for over a decade,
waiting for the right virus to come along. Now, after six years, Covid
is still active in the population, but it is not nearly as deadly
because we have an effective vaccine that gets updated each year.
